Frequently Asked questions
General Functional Nutrition
-
Functional nutrition is a personalized approach to health that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of health issues through targeted nutrition and lifestyle interventions. It considers your unique genetics, environment, lifestyle, and health history to create individualized nutrition plans.
-
While traditional nutrition often follows general dietary guidelines, functional nutrition takes a deeper dive into your biochemical individuality, gut health, nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivities, and metabolic patterns to create highly personalized recommendations.
-
Functional nutrition can support various conditions including digestive issues, autoimmune disorders, hormonal imbalances, fertility, chronic fatigue, weight management challenges, skin conditions, anxiety/depression, and metabolic dysfunction.
Services & Approach
-
Your initial consultation typically includes a comprehensive health history review, symptom assessment, dietary analysis, lifestyle evaluation, and discussion of your health goals. We may also recommend specific functional lab tests.
-
Yes, I create personalized meal plans based on your specific needs, preferences, food sensitivities, and health goals. Plans are designed to be practical and sustainable for your lifestyle.
-
Results vary by individual, but many clients notice improvements in energy and digestion within 2-4 weeks. More significant changes in chronic conditions typically occur over 3-6 months with consistent implementation.
Testing & Assessment
-
Common tests include comprehensive metabolic panels, nutrient status assessments, food sensitivity testing, gut microbiome analysis, hormone panels, and inflammatory markers. Tests are selected based on your specific symptoms and health concerns.
-
Most of the functional lab tests we order are not covered by insurance. Hower, many tests are available at discounted cash-pay rates. We will discuss all tests and costs before they are ordered. The decision is always ultimately left up to you.
-
Preparation instructions vary by test type. We provide detailed pre-test guidelines, which may include fasting requirements, medication considerations, or dietary modifications.
Working Together
-
Initially, follow-up appointments are typically scheduled every 2-4 weeks to monitor progress and adjust recommendations. As you improve, sessions may become less frequent.
-
Supplement recommendations are highly individualized based on your test results, symptoms, and nutritional needs. We focus on high-quality, therapeutic-grade supplements when indicated and emphasize food-first approaches whenever possible. As all things that I put into your plan, they are recommended but optional. You control your health.

Yes, we offer virtual consultations to accommodate clients regardless of location. Virtual sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms.
-
I will send you paperwork that please needs to be filled out before your first appointment. Also, any recent lab work, current medications/supplements list, food diary if you've been tracking, and a list of your main health concerns and goal are helpful.
-
While I would like to accept insurance, as a small practice, I’ve found the process to be impractical for delivering the level of personalized care I provide. Insurance reimbursement can be slow and burdensome, with deductions and administrative hurdles that impact the quality of service. Therefore, I do not accept insurance.
Many clients pay out-of-pocket and often use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to cover these services.
-
There is no fee to cancel or reschedule if it is made more than 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. A cancellation within 24 hours will incur a charge for half of the service amount. Exceptions may be made at the clinician’s discretion for emergencies or severe illness; documentation may be requested. Please email jillian@allin-goodhealth.com if you have any questions or to reschedule.
Getting Started
-
Functional nutrition can benefit anyone looking to optimize their health, address chronic symptoms, or prevent future health issues. It's particularly helpful for those who haven't found answers through conventional approaches.
-
Complete your intake forms thoroughly, gather any existing lab work, and consider keeping a 3-7 day food and symptom diary. Come prepared with questions and your primary health goals.
-
We work with all dietary preferences including vegetarian, vegan, paleo, keto, and various cultural food traditions. Recommendations are always tailored to your preferences and restrictions.
Follow-up & Support
-
We offer email support between sessions, recipe suggestions, supplement guidance, and check-ins as needed. I offer a 30-minute check-in session if you feel like you won’t need the full 50-minute follow-up appointment.
-
We continuously monitor your progress and adjust protocols as needed. Healing is rarely linear, and we work together to identify any barriers and modify our approach accordingly.
